As Head of Futures, Innovation and e-learning at the QCA Gareth led a national debate on curriculum futures. As a result themes such as increased local flexibility, promoting wider learning and social skills, the importance of cross curricular links and wider themes such as sustainability, technology and the global dimensions are now reflected in recent changes to the secondary curriculum. Most recently, Gareth led the curriculum development work that forms part of the current proposals for the new primary curriculum led by Sir Jim Rose.

Gareth has worked as an education advisor for a number of TV and media production companies. He has produced teaching resources for Schools TV, including the materials for the BAFTA award winning literacy series 'Rat-a-tat-tat' for C4.
Human Scale Education is a movement committed to creating learning environments based on the values of fairness and respect, in which young people are known and valued as individuals. Gareth has been an advisor on the 'human scale schools project', a ground-breaking initiative, in collaboration with the Gulbenkian Foundation, supporting 50 large secondary schools to develop HSE principles and practices. Gareth has an extensive track record for devising and producing national guidance and resources for teachers, including national curriculum guidance, schemes of work and leadership materials. He has produced web-based and print material for QCA, NCSL and Becta.
Many countries are renewing their education systems in response to global and technological change. Gareth has worked with officials and ministers from the UK and overseas.
